Protection Wizard
You can run the wizard either from the menu or from the toolbar.
The wizard provides you with step-by-step instructions for operations with boot protection and partition protection.
The wizard will lead you through the following steps:
• Selecting the protection mode (boot protection or partition protection).
• Selecting a disk or a partition (depending on the selected protection mode).
• Selecting the operation (enable protection, disable protection, change the password).
• Entering the password and its hint (if necessary).
• Carrying out the operation.
• Showing the result of the operation.
After the wizard is started, it will offer you to select the protection mode:
At the next step you will be offered a list of available disks (for boot protection) or partitions (for partition protection).
Then you will see a page where you can select the operation (enable protection - for an unprotected disk/partition, disable protection or change password - for a protected disk/partition).
Depending on the operation you select, at the next step you will see a page where you can enter passwords and password hints (it depends on the operation).
Finally, the wizard will perform the selected operation and show you the result.
When you make an attempt to protect a partition, you can face the situation when files located on this partition are being used by the system or by one of the running applications. In this case the program will display a warning and offer you one of the following three variants: cancel the operation, repeat the operation or ignore the message. If you ignore the warning, the program will protect the partition, but it may cause the running applications or the operating system to work incorrectly because the partition they are using will disappear from the system.
The program will also warn you about an attempt to protect a bootable partition (active primary partition or the partition where the current operating system is installed). After you protect this active primary partition, you will not be able to start any operating system from the disk until you disable the protection. If you protect a disk an operating system on it, you will not be able to start this operating system until you disable the protection.
Limitations of an unregistered version:
• When the 30-day trial period expires, it will be impossible to enable protection and change passwords.
• The fields for entering passwords when you enable protection or changing the password are automatically filled in with the password "demo". If you use other passwords, the program will refuse to enable protection or change the password.
• The password hint field is filled in with a string telling you that the password in the unregistered version of the program is "demo".
After you register the program, all limitations will be removed. You can find information about registering the program in the "Registration" section.
